Prince William Sound College will continue its popular "for Teachers" courses online. Course costs have been reduced to $119 for 3 500-level UAA credits.

Being Resilient with Dennis Humphrey
This semester PWSC professor Dr. Dennis Humphrey is teaching a course on Alaska Native literature. As part of completing their degree requirements, students need an Alaska themed course, and Dr. Humphrey saw offering a course on Alaska Native literature as a chance to help students fulfill that requirement and learn more about Alaska Native literature.
Meet the students: William Deaton
William Deaton is a dual-credit student attending PWSC through the Cordova Extension Site. He is a motivated young man who was accepted into the Senate Page Program and worked in Senator Lisa Murkowski’s office.

Developing Skills with George Keeney
As many schools close their doors and move to distance learning platforms, PWSC’s EMT (Emergency Medical Technician) and ETT (Emergency Trauma Technician) instructor, George Keeney is doing what he can to ensure students still get the education they need. The skills students learn in these courses are vital during times like these.
Meet the students: Rodrigo Flores
PWSC outdoor leadership student Rodrigo Flores moved here from Fresno, CA, but spent most of his life growing up in Chicago, IL. Rodrigo loves nature and exploring the outdoors and that is what drew him to Valdez and PWSC.
Employee Spotlight: Susan Harding
Susan Harding is a retired teacher who is still teaching through the dual-credit program between the College and Cordova High School. In addition to teaching classes, Susan has been the campus coordinator for the PWSC Cordova Extension Site for over 20 years.
Summer 2020 For Teachers Courses
Prince William Sound College is pleased to announce the summer 2020 ‘for Teachers’ professional development offerings for Alaska teachers. The ‘for Teachers’ lineup will include courses in technology, environmental science, math, chemistry, and construction. Each “for Teachers” course is based on a one-week summer experience followed by an implementation exercise during the fall.

My Youth Preparedness Initiative
George Keeney is teaching the My Youth Preparedness Initiative at the Valdez High School. Seventeen students are in the final stages of completing this course, which they started in August. George has collaborated with other community members to enrich the students’ learning experience.
