Celeste is setting up a mesocosm in which kelp will be maintained in the PWSC Environmental Sciences lab. This will provide a space for experiments into ecosystem health, water quality, climate change impacts, resource management, and ecological restoration. While developing and maintaining the mesocosm, Celeste has monitored and adjusted to changes in water parameters, as well as associated kelp health. She is providing the initiation of lab-based experiments of this sort, which can be carried out by future research students and environmental sciences classes. Celeste will present her research at the upcoming First Annual PWSC Environmental Sciences Symposium on Tuesday, May 2, from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m.
