Indigenous Knowledge - A professional development course for Alaskan educators

In Alaska, the majority of the teachers come from outside the state and many are unfamiliar with Alaskan culture and Alaskan Native peoples. PWSC has created a class that addresses diversity, inclusiveness, and student experience to help educators learn more about the populations they serve. The course is a standards-based professional development course taught by the Department of Education and Early Development’s Dr. Bjorn Wolter with Dr. Beth Ginondidoy Leonard, research professor of Indigenous Studies at Alaska Pacific University (APU).

Meet the instructors of PWSC's Construction Academy

Students from rural communities throughout Alaska have traveled to Valdez to attend PWSC’s Construction Academy. The academy consists of a series of non-credit courses that will train students in the skills needed to earn a State of Alaska Handyman certification.
