Kristy Crump is a nursing student at PWSC. She grew up in Valdez, Alaska, and has been commercial fishing for the past 12 years. During a recent interview, Kristy said that fishing has given her “tough skin” which will help her as a nurse. Her experience as a certified nurse aide has also helped prepare her for her future career. Kristy chose PWSC because of the low tuition rates and it’s in her hometown.

The Valdez Last Frontier Theatre Conference has many exciting evening performances coming up that are FREE to attend! All of them will be held at the Valdez Civic Center. There will be one show per evening starting this Saturday, June 8 and ending Thursday, June 13!
Emily Humphrey was one of the four Valdez High School students to graduate with both an Associates of Arts and high school diploma this May. Emily plans on attending the University of Alaska Fairbanks in the fall to pursue a bachelor's degree in secondary education and an EMT certificate. She plans to one day teach high school English and drama, and spend her summers working in emergency medical services.

Larissa Williams graduated this May with an Associates of Arts. Larissa persisted to finish her degree despite also working full time and being a full-time mom.
Valdez local Judy Prevost graduated this May with an Associates of Arts. Judy says that one of the most rewarding academic experiences so far has been finishing a degree. She encourages everyone who started a degree years ago but didn't finish, to try again.
Dual-credit student Domonique Alex is graduating from high school in May while simultaneously graduating from Prince William Sound College (PWSC) with an Associate of Arts (AA).
In April, Teresa Barton completed her Ph.D. at Loyola University Chicago in Cultural and Educational Policy Studies. Her dissertation examined the motivational attributes of adult English language learners enrolled in an English as a second language program.
Prince William Sound College is hosting the Open House Scholarship Fundraiser on Saturday, May 4, from 11:00 to 2:00 in the parking lot and atrium of the Valdez Campus. Tickets are $20, $10 for twelve-and-under, and include a meal with pulled pork sandwiches, hotdogs, drinks, and sides. There will also be outdoor games.
