The Outdoor Leadership program is focused on teaching hands-on skills needed to travel and work in the outdoors. There is no better place to learn these skills than in Valdez, Alaska, with opportunities to ski, backpack, kayak, and explore the natural settings right outside the door.

Mountain Exploration

Take your studies to the mountains with classes such as Basic Mountaineering, Four-Seasons Backpacking, and Beginning Rock Climbing, Beginning Ice Climbing, and Ski Touring.
Water Travel

Kayaking on Valdez Glacier Lake

Take classes like Sea Kayaking, Rafting, and Swiftwater Rescue.
Academics and Certifications 

Film studies class at Prince William Sound College

Students can complete an associate degree in 2 years or an occupational endorsement certificate in 1 year. Earn college education credits in core academics (such as English, science, and math), and earn outdoor industry ceritifications such as Wilderness First Responder, Swift Water Rescue, Avalanche 1 and 2, and more!

 

Prince William Sound College (PWSC) is a campus of the University of Alaska Anchorage. All degree and certificate programs are accredited by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities.
