Tommy Sheridan Brings Alaska’s Blue Economy Expertise to Capitol Hill

This week, Tommy Sheridan, This week, Tommy Sheridan, Director of the Alaska Blue Economy Center at the UAF College of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences, was invited to testify before the U.S. Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and
Transportation’s Subcommittee on Coast Guard, Maritime, and Fisheries during a hearing
on the blue economy.
Tommy spoke about fisheries, maritime industries, and coastal economies, highlighting
issues that matter to Alaska’s coastal communities. He also participated in Capitol
Hill Ocean Week as an invited panelist for “Fishing for the Future.”
Many in the community know Tommy through his work supporting workforce development,
mariculture, and Alaska’s blue economy. We appreciate his partnership and congratulate
him on this opportunity to share his expertise.
