Join Us for the Third Annual Sea Kayaking Symposium
A few days in Valdez focused on building stronger, safer paddlers through real training, shared experience, and time on the water.
The annual Valdez Kayaking Symposium brings Alaska’s sea kayaking community together to train, share skills, and learn from one another. In a place shaped by dynamic water and weather, this event connects experience with education so participants leave more confident, capable, and safety-minded.
Event Details: April 24–27, 2026, Valdez, Alaska. Instructor: Benjamin Rush. Community Education & Personal Enrichment. $300.
This symposium is built around practical, hands-on learning in real conditions.
Participants will:
- Build and refine sea kayaking skills.
- Learn from experienced instructors and guest speakers.
- Train alongside other paddlers from across Alaska.
- Strengthen decision-making and safety awareness on the water.
What’s Included
Your registration covers:
- Professional instruction
- Dinner on Friday and Sunday
- Guest speakers
- Insurance while participating in courses
What’s Not Included
Participants are responsible for:
- Transportation to and from Valdez
- Lodging if PWSC dorms are full
- Kayak and equipment, if not available
- Food, snacks, and water during courses
- Cancellation insurance
Notes:
- Kayak and equipment rentals are limited (first-come, first-served)
- PWSC dorm housing is limited (first-come, first-served) at $75 per night
Refund Policy
To receive a 100% refund, submit your cancellation request by April 22, 2026, no later than 5:00 PM. After this time, refunds are not available.

This symposium exists to help paddlers meet those realities with the skills and awareness they need—not just to paddle, but to do it safely and confidently.
