Prince William Sound College is now offering three new Occupational Endorsement Certificates in Web Engineering, Marine Service Technician, and Construction Skills. The OEC in Web Engineering prepares students to enter the information technology field as web developers. It can be completed as an online program and in two semesters. The OEC in Marine Service Technician prepares students for technician-level work in the maritime industry. Lastly, the OEC in Construction Skills teaches students to perform building and facility maintenance and repair. Both are hands-on skill based training that can be completed in one-semester; students will be introduced to industry professionals throughout both programs and gain access to potential job opportunities.

New this year, students can now complete any two OECs offered through the University of Alaska Anchorage system and then take additional credits to meet the 60 credits requirement to complete an associate degree. For example, a student could earn an OEC in Marine Service Technician and Millwright and then take additional courses to graduate with an associate degree. This will allow the student to be proficient and employable in at least one technical/vocational field of study!

The Occupational Endorsement Certifications are a great way to quickly learn and develop skills for employability.  Or stack two OEC’s to earn a two-year degree that will advance your skills and employment or career opportunities. There are lots of options and this creates flexibility for students to pursue their interests while earning a college degree. Contact an advisor today for your individualized plan!
