Student spotlight: Frank Schweers

two men smilingWe recently caught up with Frank Schweers, who is interning with the Lands and Planning Division at Wrangell-St. Elias National Park and Preserve.
He shared, "I've really dived into GIS stuff. I've been doing a lot of work with ArcGIS Online making tools and maps to be used in projects. In particular, I've been working on making maps that use 3D terrain and different kinds of symbology that differ from normal maps by displaying information as how it looks in real life rather than flat shapes and colors."

Last week, he had the opportunity to observe the collection of genetic tissue samples from salmon during his visit to Chitina, Alaska, an experience he found very cool. He looks forward to attending a youth program organized by the park in the Slana area later this month.
It sounds like you're keeping busy and having a great time, Frank!
