Employee spotlight: Bryan Vincent
by V. Heisser |
We are excited to welcome Bryan Vincent back as a returning adjunct instructor and
college alumnus! With extensive experience in CPR and First Aid, Bryan will enhance
our courses and enrich our students' learning experiences.
Bryan grew up in the small town of Port Alsworth, Alaska, located on Lake Clark and accessible only by air. He has lived in Valdez for 20 years and appreciates its perfect blend of small-town charm and necessary amenities that needed to be added during his upbringing in rural Alaska. His wife, Jessica, is a Prince William Sound College graduate from Valdez and works as a social studies teacher at Gilson Middle School. Together, they have three children and lead busy lives filled with their kids' activities and sports at both the middle and high school levels.
Bryan earned his Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) degree in Safety Management from what was formerly known as Prince William Sound Community College. He spent nearly ten years working in industrial safety and volunteering at the Valdez Fire Department. In 2016, he pursued his dream and took a full-time position at the fire department. He is currently a Lieutenant and certified as a State of Alaska EMT 3 and a firefighter. His real passion lies in training; he enjoys welcoming new people into the fire service and fostering skilled responders within the community.
Bryan has been an adjunct instructor at PWSC for several years, teaching industrial technology courses covering Industrial Hygiene, hazardous materials, safety and health, Hazwoper, and confined space awareness. He is pleased to be back teaching CPR and First Aid at the college more consistently. He believes that having highly trained CPR providers in the community is extremely valuable and is proud to contribute to that effort. Having found a fulfilling career at PWSC, he is glad to be part of the team and give back to the institution that helped him get started.
Bryan enjoys various outdoor activities with his family in his free time, particularly SCUBA diving in Prince William Sound, hunting, fishing, rucking with his dog Rufus, and fat biking in the winter.
