Alumni spotlight: Hannah Bogdan
by Vicki Heisser |
Hannah Bogdan, a recent graduate of PWSC, is making the most of her summer by pursuing
two exciting and fulfilling endeavors. During the day, Hannah guides adventurous tourists
through exhilarating rapids, sharing her passion for the great outdoors as a river
guide. On her days off, she is a dedicated researcher studying biofouling on oyster
farms at the Valdez Native Tribe Research and Experimental Mariculture site. Her research
collaborates with several organizations, including the Valdez Native Tribe, the University of Alaska - Fairbanks, PWSC, the City of Valdez, and the Prince William Sound Regional Citizens' Advisory Council (PWSRCAC).
Hannah's summer is a unique blend of adventure and science. This combination allows
Hannah to apply her academic knowledge in a practical setting while enjoying the natural
beauty of the rivers and coastlines. Her work at the oyster farm is crucial for understanding
the environmental factors that affect oyster growth and water quality, contributing
valuable insights into marine biology and sustainable farming practices.
Hannah's summer is not just about adventure and science but also about personal growth,
career development, and positively impacting the environment.
