Alumni spotlight: Gabe Hansen's journey from Prince William Sound College to success in marine tech and beyond.

PWSC recently caught up with one of its alums, Gabe Hansen, to learn about his incredible journey from the marine services technology program to success in the world of outboard motors, ATVs, and snowmobiles.

When asked about his experience in the program, Hansen shared, "It was awesome!" He continued, "I learned a lot about professionalism, taking your time, thinking about what you're doing, and doing it right. I use those lessons every day."

After graduating, Hansen, alongside his brother, embarked on a unique venture. They started buying and selling outboard motors, ATVs, and snowmobiles. Their approach was simple but effective: they'd acquire broken items from the Facebook marketplace or people's yards, fix them, and provide their customers top-notch products. Hansen emphasized, "Our customers were always pleased with the product. People used them, and they're still using them today."

Much of Hansen's success in this venture can be attributed to the professionalism he honed at PWSC. "I recommend this program to anybody who can take it because, honestly, they're going to learn a lot," Hansen said. He is particularly grateful to his instructors, Jason Smiley and Anthony Gerasch, Jr., whom he described as "great, great instructors." Their guidance and expertise played a significant role in shaping his work ethic and ambitions.

Hansen's journey has continued beyond marine tech and entrepreneurship. He's serving a mission for his church in Argentina, South America. In this role, he continues to apply the skills he acquired at PWSC, helping people fix cars, outboard motors, and motorcycles on the streets of Argentina. His dedication to service and his ability to make a positive impact is a testament to his character and the values instilled in him.

Looking to the future, Hansen wants to start an air charter business in Alaska and continue working as a commercial pilot. His strong work ethic and professionalism will give him a solid foundation to achieve his dreams.
