If you are passionate about learning in and about the natural world and want to inspire others to do the same, EDFN A190 ST: Introduction to Environmental Education is the perfect starting point. This 1-credit course introduces students to the fundamentals of informal environmental education, with a strong focus on hands-on learning and practical application.
You will gain experience in designing and delivering engaging lessons that connect people to their environment, whether in a park, museum, nature center, or at a community event. You will learn how to use place-based teaching techniques, define your environmental ethics, and adapt environmental education strategies for diverse audiences.
By the end of the course, you will be able to:
- Design and deliver informal environmental education programs using local resources and landscapes.
- Define your environmental values and understand how they shape your teaching.
- Communicate environmental concepts in accessible and meaningful ways.
