Meet Tim Burns – Precision Machinist, Educator, and Mentor
Tim Burns is a proud Ohio native and a lifelong fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes and
the Cleveland Browns. He brings experience, skill, and dedication to everything he
does. His journey began in the United States Air Force, where he served as a welder
and machinist, establishing a strong foundation in the trades and a commitment to
excellence.
After completing his military service, Tim spent over twenty years teaching precision
machining, sharing his expertise and passion with his students. His dedication to
education eventually led him to Alaska, where he worked as an assistant principal.
He resides in Valdez, where he is employed in maintenance at Alyeska and is an adjunct
instructor in the millwright program at PWSC.
Tim firmly believes in the power of skilled trades and is passionate about helping
students build sustainable and rewarding futures. "I enjoy providing opportunities
for students to gain knowledge in a trade that can support them and their families
for the rest of their lives," he says.
When he's not teaching or working, Tim can be found on the court enjoying a game of
basketball or pickleball or cheering on his favorite teams.
Tim is more than an educator; he is a mentor, leader, and true career and technical
education advocate.
