We were honored to welcome Interim Chancellor Dr. Cheryl Siemers to Prince William Sound College this Wednesday as part of the annual Valdez Gold Rush Days celebration. She joined us for the Golden Opportunities Luncheon, where she connected with community members in a joyful gathering that celebrated Valdez’s legacy and spirit of resilience.

“The event honors the past, present, and future of Valdez, Alaska,” Dr. Siemers shared, “and PWSC is proud to host the kickoff luncheon every year. It was great to experience this historical community event that connects perfectly with the PWSC mission of enriching the lives of our students and our communities.”

While on campus, Chancellor Siemers also visited our Yamaha Outboard course for teachers. This hands-on training, led by PWSC faculty, brings educators from across Alaska together to strengthen career and technical education in their home communities. The visit offered a glimpse into how workforce development at PWSC continues to support both regional industry and lifelong learning.

Her visit reflected PWSC’s commitment to community partnerships, practical learning, and the deep connections between education and place.
