Cecil Hawley

Cecil Hawley grew up in Kivalina, a village in Northwest Alaska. He moved to Valdez to attend PWSC and he is a student in the millwright program. Cecil said that he decided to attend the program after Morey Denton encouraged him to go and connected him with PWSC’s millwright professor Dennis Eastman. Morey was the instructor for the Millwright 1 and 2 classes that Cecil previously attended. Cecil stated, “I have two journeymen helping me to become a journeyman.” His two beautiful daughters are also a part of his motivation to advance his education and career.
After spending time with PWSC’s math professor Rusen Myleni, Cecil has a new goal: to become an engineer. Rusen was impressed with Cecil’s mathematical skills and encouraged him to pursue engineering. Cecil said, “I’ve only been here a week and I’m already making such great connections… I didn’t know I had this talent inside of me, so now I know and I want to take it to the next level – engineering school.” Welcome to PWSC, Cecil! We are glad to be a part of your journey!
