Meet Casey Frahm

PWSC: Welcome to PWSC. Where are you from and where did you grow up?

Casey:  I was born in California, but grew up in Kansas City, so I consider myself a Midwesterner through and through!

PWSC: What do you do at PWSC?

Casey: I am Dr. O'Connor's assistant.

PWSC: What do you think of Alaska, Valdez, and PWSC so far?

Casey: I love Valdez!!  I was fortunate to have arrived a couple of weeks before the rainy season set in, so I got to enjoy the tail end of summer and nice weather!  I haven't done too much exploring, but I've been on a few hikes, I've been fishing (unsuccessfully) a few times, and ventured to Anchorage once for a Costco run.  I'm curious to see how I fare in the winter months.  I like Valdez and the mentality of those who live here; everyone is so friendly and welcoming!  PWSC is no exception-everyone has been kind and helpful in getting me used to how things work here.

PWSC: Would you share some of your hobbies and interests?

Casey: I like to read a lot; I like photography, so I'm eager to see what shots I can get of Valdez and Alaska!  I also like to be outside and active, biking and running are my two favorite things, so I'm excited to get back into them!  I may even try fat tire biking in the winter!  I'm relatively new to kayaking, so that's something I'd like to get better at.  I find it very hard to sit at home on the weekends, so it's likely I'll be out exploring!

PWSC: Do you have a family and/or pets? What do they think of you moving to Alaska? (Ha-ha)

Casey:  I drove here from the San Francisco bay area with my two cats-so that was an adventure!  They are my little furbabies!  They are getting used to being here and love looking out the window at the bunnies. My family is excited that I'm here and are anxious to come visit.  They are especially excited to go skiing.  They are constantly asking for updates on how it's going.
