Alumni spotlight: Kedrick Wallis

We recently had the opportunity to chat with Kedrick Wallis and learn more about his journey.

Kedrick was born in Valdez, Alaska. but his family moved to the Netherlands when he turned six. After spending nine years there, they decided to return to Valdez. That’s when he began exploring more hands-on work and discovered PWSC's OEC in Millwright program. He shared, "It was a perfect match for me—engines, machines, welding, and all things mechanical."

Aside from aligning with his interests, becoming a millwright attracted him because it would open incredible job opportunities for him. This has proven true! Right after graduating from high school, he secured a job on the slope as a General Maintenance Technician (GMT) with CCI Industrial Services, LLC —exactly where he wanted to be from the start.

Kedrick expressed his gratitude towards Spencer Heston for guiding him through the process and helping him reach his current position. The millwright program equipped him with essential skills and opened numerous doors for his future.

To anyone who feels they may not be the "traditional academic" type, don’t let that deter you from finding what works for you. His educational journey was somewhat unconventional, as he transferred schools multiple times and didn't always excel in a classroom setting. However, when he discovered hands-on work, everything clicked into place.

If you're interested in engines, machines, welding, or seeking a career with solid job opportunities, the millwright program is definitely worth considering!
