Meet the students Mondays: Aaron Riggins

by Vicki Heisser  |

As a truck driver and office worker, Aaron Riggins has been looking for opportunities to further his education. Recently when a friend told him about the PWSC millwright program he knew he wanted to find out more about it. He shares, “It is a skill set that I have always wanted to obtain. It is something that I feel I will be able to use in the future...[H]aving my commercial driver’s license, having the millwright knowledge, and the know-how and the certification, it should all work out pretty well for me.” He adds, “It is the scheduling of this class that makes it possible for me to attend. I have a full-time job during the day so with the classes held in the evenings, I have enough time to get off work and get here. So far, I haven’t missed a class yet.”

When asked if there were any challenges with regard to what he is learning Aaron shares, “Oh, probably the math, the geometry part, but the way Dennis explains it, then it is like, oh, that makes sense!”  Dennis is an excellent teacher. Aaron goes on to say, “What I like about this program is that it is a very fair program, it is very affordable and if you are looking to raise your lifestyle or get a better paying job it’s something you can do while you are working your everyday job.”
