Grant Funding Available for Spring 2027 Skilled Trades Programs at Prince William Sound College

Students can receive funding to cover tuition and course fees for Marine Service Technology, Millwright, and Construction Skills certificate programs.

Prince William Sound College (PWSC) is pleased to announce that grant funding is available to help eligible students pursue career-focused training in three skilled trades programs beginning in January 2027.

Through this funding opportunity, eligible students can receive financial assistance covering tuition and course fees for the college's Marine Service Technology, Millwright, and Construction Skills Occupational Endorsement Certificate (OEC) programs.

Hands-On Training for In-Demand Careers

PWSC's skilled trades programs emphasize practical, hands-on learning designed to help students develop foundational technical skills and prepare for employment opportunities.

Marine Service Technology OEC

This one-two semester program introduces students to the skills and knowledge needed to service, maintain, and repair marine equipment and systems. Students gain hands-on experience relevant to Alaska's marine industry.

Millwright OEC

The two-semester Millwright program provides training in industrial mechanical systems, equipment maintenance, installation, and repair. Students develop practical skills applicable to industrial and mechanical trades.

Construction Skills OEC

Returning in Spring 2027, this one-semester, nine-credit program introduces students to foundational construction trades, including carpentry, plumbing, electrical basics, construction safety, and building maintenance.

Each program provides opportunities to build practical skills through applied learning and instruction.

Making Career Training More Accessible

The availability of grant funding helps reduce financial barriers for students interested in developing new skills, exploring a career change, or entering the skilled trades.

For eligible students, the funding covers tuition and course fees, making it possible to pursue these certificate programs without those educational expenses.

Living expenses and other costs not covered by the grant remain the responsibility of the student.

Students must complete both the college's program admission process and a separate grant funding application to be considered for financial assistance. Funding is limited, and eligibility requirements apply.
