The University of Alaska provides public domain, bulk purchase, volume, and site-licensed software. This service provides students, faculty, staff, and departments free or low-cost software, including Microsoft, Adobe, Google, and Symantec (antivirus) products. Select the options below to learn more about products available through PWSC's connection to UAA and UA.  Additional products are located at UAA IT's Software page and UA OIT's Licensed Software webpage.

For software that is not listed, departments and individuals should contact the PWSC IDT department.

The University of Alaska also offers access to several leading higher education membership and subscription resources at no cost to UA faculty, staff, and students. Some restrictions may apply.

  • G Suite (Google)

    G Suite for Education is a cloud-based productivity suite that helps you and your team connect and get work done from anywhere on any device. Services include:

    • Drive: Securely store files online, accessible from anywhere with Internet connectivity.
    • Docs: Create, collaborate, and share word processing documents.
    • Sheets: Create, collaborate, and share spreadsheets.
    • Slides: Create, collaborate, and share slide presentations.
    • Calendar: Google Calendar allows individuals to create and edit events, set reminders, and invite others to attend
    • Forms: Create surveys, quizzes, and polls, and easily see the results as they come in.
    • Gmail: Send and receive email with your university provided email account
    • Sites: Create and publish websites.
    • Groups: Groups brings together people, conversations and content
    • Hangouts Chat, Meet: Instant messaging and video conferencing

    Access your UA G Suite services and resources by logging into the UA Google page with your UA username and password.

    Google Apps @ UA customers may install approved G Suite Marketplace apps. To request a G Suite Marketplace app be made available, submit the 'Request Marketplace App' request with UA Office of Information Technology. Please note, requests for G Suite Marketplace apps are reviewed every Wednesday morning, so there may be a one to seven day turnaround after submitting an app request. 

  • Microsoft Office

    Office 365

    University employees and students can access web versions of the most popular Office applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OneNote. These web applications offer most of the functionality as their desktop counterparts, and give you the ability to share documents with fellow students, staff, and faculty and co-edit documents in real time. 

    To access Office 365, open a web browser to https://www.office.com.

    Log in with your UA username@alaska.edu, and your standard password that you use to log into other UA services.

    Office Pro Plus

    After you log into Office 365, you can install the full Microsoft Office Pro Plus suite of applications for personal use. You can install Office on up to 5 machines (PC and/or Mac) at the same time as long as you are affiliated with the University. 

    To install Office, click Install Now

    Note:If you already have the Microsoft Office Suite installed on your University issued computer, there is no need to install it again.

  • Accessibility Assistance
    Disability Support Services encourages the use of these programs and can provide training and support for those interested in learning more. The Premier Literacy Suite contains the Internet Toolbar in addition to several other applications including Text to Audio and Scan and Read Pro. Please contact DSS with any questions.   • Cisco AnyConnect

    Virtual Private Network application that allows access to local network resources from non-UAA network locations.  The Any Connect client is installed through a web installer or by one of the manual installers below. 

    The server address that clients connect to is anc-vpn01.uaa.alaska.edu .

  • Cisco Jabber
    Used for making and receiving phone calls through a computer. You must be set up for Jabber before downloading the Jabber client.
  •  Antivirus
     Symantec Antivirus
    Software to prevent, detect and remove harmful virus, trojan and worm programs from your computer.
  • Adobe Creative Suite 6 (available through KeyClient)

    The University of Alaska Office of Information Technology makes several licensed applications available for download via an authenticated webpage. After logging in you may download the KeyClient authentication software, select an application from the available downloads, review license restrictions, evaluate pre-requisites for the application in question, and download an installer for the application itself.

    Current software programs for both Windows and Mac users include the Adobe Creative Suite 6, TOAD, and more.
