UAA - Nursing, Associate of Applied Science
Associate of Applied Science in Nursing
PWSC serves as a branch campus for UAA’s Associate of Applied Science Nursing Program. Graduates of the AAS in Nursing are prepared to provide direct nursing care to individuals in inpatient settings and structured outpatient settings. The program provides students with a closely related mix of theory and clinical practice. Students gain clinical experience in hospitals, nursing homes, and clinics.
Students can pursue their prerequisites through PWSC before applying to the UAA Nursing AAS Program. Once accepted into the UAA program, classes are delivered through a combination of distance modalities and live instruction on the PWSC Campus. The clinical rotations are for the most part completed in local health care facilities. Valdez students can expect to spend approximately 6 weeks in Anchorage or Fairbanks for specialty rotations if placements cannot be secured closer to the student’s home.
