Students can complete this OEC in 1 semester 

The Occupational Endorsement Certificate (OEC) in Marine Service Technology prepares students for technician-level work in the maritime industry. Students graduating with an OEC in Marine Service Technology will be able to perform a variety of troubleshooting, installation, services, and repairs to marine systems. These courses cover carpentry, plumbing, and electrical. The sessions will be a combination of classroom instruction and hands-on skill building and training.

Grant Funding Available

Limited grant funding is available for the Marine Service Technology (MST) program.

  • Eligibility: Must be at least 16 years old, a U.S. citizen or permanent resident, and enrolled full-time (12+ credits if receiving housing).
  • Requirements: 500–1000 word essay (prompt provided in application) and one letter of recommendation.
  • Application Period:
    • Opens Monday, September 29, 2025 (AKDT)
    • Closes Monday, October 20, 2025 at 11:59 p.m. (AKDT)
    • Students will be notified of their grant status on November 3 at 1:00 pm (AKDT).

Grant funding is contingent on academic performance. Funding will only cover courses where a grade of C or higher is achieved. If a student earns a grade of D, F, W, or I, the student will be responsible for covering the remaining balance for those courses.

The Marine Service Technology program is limited by space and equipment, unfortunately we cannot accommodate all interested students.
