Occupational Endorsement Certificate (OEC) in Construction Skills

This one-semester certificate prepares students for entry-level work in residential repair, small facility maintenance, and related construction trades. Students will learn foundational skills in safe tool use, basic carpentry, repair practices, weatherization, introductory plumbing and electrical concepts, building-code awareness, jobsite safety, and customer-focused work practices.

The program is designed for students who want a practical starting point in the construction field. Graduates will leave with a stronger understanding of how to complete common maintenance and repair tasks safely, communicate professionally with customers or employers, and understand the basic licensing, bonding, insurance, and code considerations connected to handyman work in Alaska.

  • Credit Hours: 9 (Applicable to Spring 2027 - Program Changes Pending)
  • Minimum 2.0 GPA
