PWSC is offering some exciting Outdoor Leadership classes this semester including:
Wilderness First Responder (WFR)

- The Wilderness First Responder (WFR) Course is 72-80 hours in length and will be delivered as an intensive training March 9-15, 2017 (9am-7pm daily) at Prince William Sound College. Online delivery of this course, via Blackboard, begins February 26, 2018. Please check Blackboard for the pre-intensive assignments. The course syllabus and daily intensive training schedule will be posted on Blackboard as of February 26. The course includes a mandatory $215 materials and course fee that covers the WFR certification, CPR certification, instruction materials and insurance. Successful completion of this course culminates in a 3-year WFR certification through SOLO (www.soloschools.com). Successful completion is defined as attendance for the entirety of this course and passing scores on written and practical examinations.
Wilderness First Responder (WFR) Recertification

Students who wish to recieve a WFR Recertification through this class must have a current WFR certificate through WMI, WMA, or Remote Medical, or SOLO.

Avalanche Theory II

- This course is a 4-day program that provides backcountry leaders the opportunity to advance their avalanche knowledge and decision making skills. This course also includes the introductory and prerequisite components for the professional certificate, the AIARE 3 certificate. The AIARE 2 builds from the introductory avalanche hazard management model introduced in the level one and adds to it the evaluation of factors critical to stability evaluation.
