PWSC Cordova Extension Site Coordinator Susan Harding Retires

Susan Harding has contributed much to the college in her 21 years working for PWSC.
As a dual enrollment teacher, she has influenced countless students, and as the PWSC
Cordova Extension Site Coordinator, she continues to motivate and help students achieve
their goals.
For student Jill Tabara, it was Harding who inspired her to apply to PSWC’s nursing program in Valdez.
Tabara shared, “Susan Harding was so supportive…and here I am, halfway through my first semester of nursing school. I thank her and my parents for continually believing in me and pushing me to go after my dreams.”
Harding herself gained inspiration from teachers in her life, and she continues to help her dual enrollment students as her own teachers helped her.
"My second-grade teacher influenced me to become a teacher, and I always wanted to teach school from that time forward. I love helping kids learn. The rewards are seeing students pursue their goals and have high school students graduate with their Associate of Arts as they also graduate from high school.”
Harding looks forward to enjoying retirement in her beloved Cordova, where she has lived since moving there with her husband in 1975.
“I love living in Cordova because I enjoy the small town…One of the things people love to say about Cordova is that it is the best-kept secret in Alaska and that it is a friendly town. I think both of those are true.”
